The first step towards learning to skydive is to complete one of our AFF Ground Training Courses, which take place every month. This 1-day ground course lasts 6-8 hours and teaches you everything you need to know including how to exit the plane, how to fly a specific body position, how to fly and land your parachute safely. At the end of the day you are ready to throw yourself out of a plane and start your journey to skydiving solo.


Prior to arrival

You will receive a confirmation email, which includes information on how to complete the following. You cannot participate in the course unless these are completed prior to arrival.

* Student assumption of risk (waiver)

* New Zealand Parachute Industry Association (NZPIA) website registration and affiliation fee payment


On arrival

* You must ensure you arrive 15 minutes prior to the course start time, having completed the above documentation

* You will be introduced to your Instructor and other attendees - then the learning begins!


What to bring / What to expect

* Please bring your own food/drinks, breaks are short and there isn't always enough time to go off-site in search of food. 

* You are welcome to bring your own pen/paper, if you prefer to write things down.  You will be provided with course documentation via email at the end of the course.

* There is a lot of learning, theoretical and physical.  Please wear comfortable clothing, suitable to the weather of that day.  If you are hoping to complete your TAFF (1st level) on the same day, you must ensure you are wearing closed shoes (trainers/sneakers).
